I’m quickly running out of excuses, the holidays are over, my son is now 3 1/2 months old and I still have 13 lbs to lose.  Granted I gained around 50 lbs on my 5’1 frame in the process of growing my son, but I was under the impression that weight would just melt off.  As you can see in the picture 50+ lbs on my frame isn’t pretty.

I thought breastfeeding was supposed to be the weight-loss secret.  Just feed my son like I was planning to do and all of the weight would magically melt off and I would look like a victoria’s secret angel by Christmas.  It is now well after Christmas and I can’t even fit my fat jeans over my thighs.

This past weekend I decided enough was enough and I marched over to the library for some diet books and fitness dvds.  So far I skimmed the fitness dvd while sitting on my computer and read the diet book but continued to eat as usual.  As a matter of fact yesterday for lunch I had a delicious mushroom robiola pizza and proceeded to eat the whole thing, for dinner I was too full from lunch so I had cereal and then by bedtime I was hungry again so I had popcorn.  Obviously the keys to diet success, I don’t know why the weight isn’t just melting off.

Now I’m back to square one trying to lose weight without trying.

On the good news front, my son is gaining weight like a champ.  It’s amazing to me that breastfeeding can allow a baby to grow and thrive.  If only for every lb he gains I lose 1 lb of pure fat, wouldn’t that be nice?
