Baby wearing is way more complicated than hippies will lead you to believe. When my son was first born he weighed in at 8 lbs which was the bottom weight limit for the baby bjorn that we had purchased. He loved being carried in it and I loved having my hands free to cook dinner and do work around the house. Now that my son has doubled in size he still loves the bjorn especially since he can face out and look around at the world, however I now have terrible back pain since the bjorn puts all the weight right in between your shoulder blades.
A friend of ours told us about the Ergo, and let us try it on a trek to the zoo. L seemed pretty pleased with the carrier and we had a gift card to REI so we went for it, teething pads and all. Yesterday was the debut since it took a while to wash and clean the thing. L seemed none to happy with it, he would fuss and then smile and then go back to fussing in it. He’s at the bottom end of the recommended weight limit so I’m hoping that once he gets a little bigger he likes it more. I was thrilled with it, the ergo puts all of the weight on your hips and back of the shoulders which was much more comfortable. If he doesn’t like this in the next week though we are back to square one and I’m not sure what we are going to do…
