So we decided to do Baby Led Weaning with my son. At his 4 month appointment we talked to the pedi and he thought that was a good fit for us and that we can start anytime between 4 and 6 months. I know the baby led weaning book is pretty strict on nothing before 6 months, but it also says that a baby is ready when they pull food off your plate, put it in their mouths and eat it. My son is there, so we’ve been offering little bits from our meals on his highchair. Last night was broccoli and he took the stalk and sucked the florets off. In some ways I wish we were doing spoon feeding because its fun to feed a baby that way, but it’s also amazing to watch my almost 5 month old eat broccoli, tomatoes and apples. All organic and unprocessed, I love knowing that he’s getting a great start on a healthy diet and that’s what Baby Led Weaning is all about. It’s also been fun planning my dinners and meals around what can we give little man? Those that have tried what interesting things have your kiddos eaten with baby led weaning?
Eating a cup at Chipotle-the kid loves to drink out of cups!

It is an amazing thing to see! My baby girl started yanking (she’s so strong!) everything out of my mouth at 6 months. She is an adventurous eater, but I am always hungry
BLW is a new concept to me, but it sounds like a great way to ensure I keep healthy stuff on my plate! I’m really hoping my little one is slow to show interest in solids. Our pediatrician also told us 4 months was ok to start but I’m not ready for her to be so grown up! Your little man looks gorgeous chomping on that cup – I can’t believe he’s only about a month ahead of my kiddo. Someone stop these babies from growing up so quickly!
Agree-they are growing up way too quickly! I was hoping my little guy wouldn’t be interested in solids, and actually said on numerous occasions my son will never have anything before 6 months. So much for that
We’re also doing baby-led weaning over here and so far my daughter’s favorite has been pears. I think it’s because she can suck the juice out. She’s also had sweet potatoes, carrots, avacados and bananas–so that’s mainly what I’ve been eating too
It’s funny, we’ve definitely changed how we eat too. I eat so many more bananas and apples than we did before. My son likes to grab the apple after I take a bite and suck the juice out too.
It’s just so cute when they do that. I love sharing food.
