So last week we took off on a flight with a baby…and it wasn’t bad at all.  I was super worried about everything but my little man did awesome even though I didn’t plan well at all!  Our first flight was early, we had to wake him up at 3:30 am and it lasted for 3 and a half hours and he slept almost the entire time.  The second flight was in the afternoon and was 5 hours long and again he did great.  I think the biggest tool for flying is breastfeeding.  He was awake a lot more for the second flight and at certain points he was getting bored, tired, cranky, etc and I was able to solve all of these problems with breastfeeding!  The hardest part about traveling was not being able to use our cloth diapers.  We used GroVia shells and disposable inserts which was a nice compromise but he just wasn’t as dry as he is in cloth diapers and I didn’t feel like they held as much as my Rumparooz.  I will admit I had quite a few hesitations about flying with him, as a mom there are so many what-ifs going through your head but I’m here to say that it will be fine.  If your little one ends up screaming the entire 5 hour flight, they won’t be the first and they certainly won’t be the last, so hop on the plane I think your little one might surprise you.
